The restyling of the Stockholm Queen Silvia Concert Hall has been curated by the architect Giorgio Palù who realizes it in a total innovative way: a space for experimentation, suitable to accommodate different type of musical performances. During specific events we can also image to subvert the ordinary setting, placing the public in the stage and the orchestra on the balconies. The foyer isn’t located in the ground floor as it normally is, the audience is taken by a big elevator to the third floor where a panoramic view opens up over the entire hall, starting the musical experience with an unexpected architectural promenade, from the hanging balconies to the audience located on a lower level.

Steel Group took charge of the custom realization of the hall’s metal claddings that represent the view of the Stockholm archipelago seen from the satellite. The archipelago’s islands are made of polish steel with the goal to create a play of reflections and fragmented images that emphasize the idea of an asymmetrical space, the harmonious colors reflect the different shades of the orchestra’s brass. Besides the claddings, Steel Group also created the audience customized velvet armchairs thanks to Metalli D’Autore, its exclusive brand of steel furnishings and interior design Made in Italy.

THE RESULT

The new space of Queen Silvia Concert Hall can be seen as an only one system which is very fluid and original, redefined in its essence and path by an harmony of shades and design items, but also by a continue twist of forestages and volumes.
