The restoration and extension of the campus of Cremona’s Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore started in 2018 and were led by the architectural firm Lamberto Rossi Associati with the direction of the architect Marco Tarabella. The structural design involved the relocation of the university from the previous site to the former Goito barracks complex with the development of the classrooms, service areas and research centers. The new structure enhanced the different disused historical spaces such as the monastery and the former Santa Monica church, the imposing military building of Magazzino Carri, the walls of the ancient river area and the nearby wooded area of over than 3000 square meters.

Steel Group took in charge the complex realization of the windows and doors. The authentic structures needed elements that must perfectly conform to the preexistent openings, while the big rooms transformed into classrooms needed special doors to reduce the sound propagation from a place to another and from the outside to the inside. The choice was the one of creating custom arched doors and windows with cold profiles equipped with acoustic glasses.

THE RESULT

Places that keep its history but at the same time are reinvented in order to satisfy new demands of design and functionality.
